A French lawmaker faces backlash for appearing on a “inappropriate” Playboy cover

After appearing on the front cover of Playboy magazine, Marlene Schiappa, a minister in the French government since 2017, faced criticism from members of her own political party.

She wore a white dress as she posed on the magazine’s cover, and the issue featured a lengthy interview with the French minister on the subject of women’s and LGBT rights.

Elisabeth Borne, the French Prime Minister, and other political allies have criticized her for her association with and appearance in the magazine.

According to a person close to the prime minister, “That wasn’t proper, especially during this era.”

Because France is currently dealing with the political and social unrest brought on by President Emmanuel Macron’s pursuit of the pension reforms, the timing has drawn the most criticism.Who is the politician Marlene Schiappa who posed for the Playboy cover?

Schiappa serves as the Social Economy and French Associations Minister at the moment.

Schiappa, a well-known advocate for women’s rights, was chosen in 2017 to serve as the nation’s first-ever Minister of Gender Equality.

Schiappa responded to the cold reception on Twitter.

She tweeted, “Defending the right of women to regulate their bodies is everywhere and always.

“Women are free in France. Have the utmost regard for the naysayers and hypocrites.”
