Couple gets engaged during Coldplay’s show at iHeartRadio ALTer EGO

January 16, 2022 | 5:27pm

Coldplay’s latest concert was literal “Paradise” for two lovestruck fans.

Casey Treur and Jesus Nuñez were in the audience for the band’s set at iHeartRadio ALTer EGO at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Saturday – and stole the show with a proposal.

It all began when frontman Chris Martin, 44, started singing “My Universe,” followed by “A Sky Full of Stars,” as the crowd illuminated the venue with light-up wristbands they were given upon arrival.

That’s when Treur, 42, whispered “you really are my universe” to Nuñez, 31, before getting down on one knee and asking him to marry him.

“I made my mind up in October that I was going to propose but had a hard time figuring the when and how. I never thought I would ever get married, honestly. I have had a couple of long term relationships, but this one was different,” Treur, who has been dating Nuñez for over five years, exclusively told Page Six.

“Originally, my plan was to do it during a kayak trip in Catalina Island … however, when I saw that Coldplay was going to be performing – I’ve loved the song ‘My Universe’ [with BTS] and really thought the lyrics worked. Jesus is my universe, and I started thinking on how I could pull this proposal off during that song.”

Treur told us that he was waiting until the end of the song to pop the question, but Coldplay moved on to “A Sky Full of Stars” faster than he anticipated.

“It’s kind of a blur. I was so focused on Jesus I didn’t even realize the next song started!” he shared. “But I think it’s a win-win that that was the next song, given that the lyrics are just as meaning and beautiful. And with the bonus of all of the wristbands lit up for an amazing background!”

“A lot was going on. I was in shock, and to be honest, trembling,” Núñez recalled.

Nuñez admitted to Page Six that nerves definitely got the best of them, as the ring was on his finger – and on the wrong hand! – before he could even say “yes.”

“A lot was going on. I was in shock, and to be honest, trembling,” he recalled. “I had to take a seat after the moment. I was shaky, happy, excited. All emotions at once, to the point I had sit down to take it all in.”

He added, “I was surprised and I didn’t know it was going to happen until it did … I think if it wasn’t for videos and pictures, I wouldn’t believe it happened. I’m so grateful for him and love him to death.”

Later in the evening, Avril Lavigne took the stage for a surprise appearance before Twenty One Pilots closed out ALTer EGO.

The singer performed classic hits like “Sk8er Boi,” “Girlfriend” and “Happy Ending,” along with her new song “Bite Me” as fans danced and sang along.

“We’re so excited to come out tonight,” Lavigne, 37, told the crowd. “We hope you guys have been having an incredible night!”

The concert, presented by Capital One, also featured performances by Kings of Leon, All Time Low, Willow, Imagine Dragons and more. All guests were required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter the facility, and had to keep their masks on throughout the duration of the show.
