Dad Rushes To Put Out Fire, No One Expects What 7-Year-Old Son Says

A seven-year-old boy had an unusual reaction to seeing his dad putting out a potentially dangerous fire outside their neighbor’s house.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, in 2023, local fire departments in the U.S. responded to an estimated 1.39 million fires, which resulted in property damage to the tune of an estimated $23 billion.

The fire Jayme Brown and her family witnessed outside their neighbor’s home might not have amounted to all that much, but that was largely down to her husband’s quick thinking.

“Our neighbor’s lawn mower caught on fire across the street from our home,” Brown, who is from Maine, told Newsweek. “We were pulling in our driveway and noticed he was trying to put out fire under his lawn mower and then the trees and brush caught on fire.

She added that her husband thought on his feet and “ran home and grabbed a fire extinguisher to help him.”

Eager to capture the “ridiculousness” of it all while she stayed in the car with the kids, ready just in case the emergency services needed to be called, Brown began filming her husband’s efforts.

However, while doing so, she failed to notice the input their seven-year-old son Kingsley offered from the safety of the backseat.

Jayme Brown's son had the sweetest reaction.

“I honestly did not even hear what my kid said until I watched the video back,” she said. “I sent the video to friends and they died [laughing] at the commentary from my kiddo!”

In the footage, which she subsequently posted to TikTok under the handle the.chaos.coordinator, Kingsley can be heard excitedly announcing “Oh wait, this is the place where you can do s’mores! Perfect!”

An onscreen caption reads: “You are a kid only thinking about food while your dad is in a bit of a crisis.” The video went viral, amassing over 640,000 views with people left in stitches at his response.

“The mentality I need going into 2025,” one joked, with another writing: “Me when my life is in shambles.”

A third declared: “I’m this kind of optimist” with a fourth writing: “I want to be this level of unbothered.” Elsewhere, one user said: “He sees a problem, he solves a problem.”

Commenting on the video’s popularity, Brown said: “I think it’s gone a bit viral because of the innocence. He felt safe and confident that that fire was a non issue! He always was very clearly thinking about food.”

Last year, fire departments responded to fires somewhere across the U.S. every 23 seconds, according the National Fire Protection Association.
