A 2-year-old from Boston is going viral for her cheeky response to a simple question posed by her mom.
In a short clip on TikTok, Shelby Chiasson asked her daughter, “Are you a good girl or a bad girl?” Without missing a beat, Penelope confidently replies, “Bad girl.”
Chiasson told Newsweek that she was left speechless but “in the best way possible” to her daughter’s response. “I couldn’t help but laugh because it was so unexpected and funny. I think every parent can relate to those moments where their child says something that takes you completely by surprise in the most adorable way,” she said.

The exchange between mom and daughter said a lot about her personality, Chiasson added, who captioned her viral clip: “She’s not lying.”
“She’s bold, expressive, and has such a funny, independent spirit. It shows how she’s already forming her own identity and isn’t afraid to share what she’s thinking—her confidence and humor are just incredible for her age,” the 29-year-old said.

Another shared a similar experience to Chiasson, where they used to ask their sister if she was a princess. She would respond, “No I’m pure evil,” which sums up the person she is, the TikTok user wrote.
Chiasson, who goes by @shelbyrosee01 on TikTok, told Newsweek that the reaction on TikTok has been amazing. “People are loving her boldness and sense of humor, and so many have commented on how they can relate to moments like this with their own kids. It’s been heartwarming to see how much joy and laughter she’s brought to others through such a simple but memorable moment,” she said.
