A popular perspective that nobody owes anybody anything is quite rampant in this age. The ability to be kind has been taken for granted extensively. And this has forced many people to be otherwise. But this haircutter’s kindness didn’t go unnoticed.
Sara was going about her typical day this Thursday morning. She had bought new pairs of dryers to make her business easier. Like every other day, she was attending to her customers diligently.
Not long after, a couple enters her salon. The man and his wife seemed to be a bit aged. They walk in holding each other’s hands which is very beautiful to see. Sara is quite busy, but they’d rather wait for their turn.
Sara finally attends to them. Everyday business transactions are done, and she closed for the day. Sometime after, she receives a letter from her husband. He shared a very touching story with her.
His wife suffered from Dementia. Before Christmas, he followed his wife to her salon for a haircut. He tells her how her gentleness with them was one of the best experiences they had together.
He narrates how her hospitality in letting them be together throughout was thoughtful. And how she made him very important through the process. Like when she turned over his wife’s chair for him to witness her facial expressions. And when she let them sit next to each other.
In his words, “to see her happy was priceless.” His wife was excited with the results, and she felt like a new woman entirely. He appreciates the kindness of this haircutter. She had no reason to, but she was extra kind, and he didn’t want to take that for granted. Unfortunately, he lost his wife shortly after. But he was grateful for that beautiful highlight of her life.
