Survey shows what Instagram filters can reveal about a person

Researchers have been studying the effect of social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram on mental health for a while. But the behaviour of people on these applications can also tell us a lot about their state of mind.

Findings of a research show that people who are lonely and single tend to use fewer colours while applying filters on Instagram. Meanwhile posting colourful images was a trait observed among people who were romantically involved.

The survey also looked at how satisfied people were with their lives and personality traits like narcissism. Users with a positive outlook had higher colour diversity in pictures while neurotic people had less colour harmony.

Gender also plays a role with women posting more colourful images while men going for post harmonious pictures.
