Wife Who Is Certain Her Husband Only Has One Kid Meets Her Stepson’s Carbon Copy

Ella took her stepson Matt to a birthday party when she suddenly bumped into another boy who looked exactly like him. She decided to approach the older woman with the boy, and they discovered the truth.

“Dad, mom’s taking me to my classmate’s birthday party today,” Matt cheered as he ate his breakfast. Ella smiled as she looked at him, while her husband barely gave him a second look.

“It’s going to be fun! You’re going to wear that new costume I bought you, right?” Ella suddenly said, just so Matt didn’t feel ignored by his father. He beamed and nodded.

“Of course, mom. Thank you for buying it for me,” he said, finishing up his cereal.

Ella loved Matt like her own son, as she’d always wanted children of her own. She and her husband Patrick met just a couple of months after his first wife died giving birth to Matt.

To be completely honest with herself, Ella knew that Patrick did not love Matt as much as she loved him. In fact, they barely spent time together, as Patrick barely acknowledged Matt and instead buried himself in work.

It broke Ella’s heart that Patrick wanted out of his own son’s life, and it made her distance herself from her husband. Instead, she vowed to raise Matt like her own child and that’s exactly what she did.

She even insisted she adopted Matt, which Patrick gladly accepted. He quickly signed the adoption papers, and the process would be over in a couple of months. In the meantime, she made sure that Matt did not feel as if his own father did not love him.

The party had already started when Ella and Matt made it to the pizza joint. Matt spotted his friends right away, giving his mom a kiss before going to play with them.

Meanwhile, Ella went to join the other moms at a table and started chatting with them. It remained this way for a while when Ella suddenly spotted Matt sitting at a table alone in one corner. He had his hoodie up, and he rested his chin on his arms.

“Sweetheart, what’s wrong? What are you doing here alone?” she asked.

The boy looked up, confused. “Who are you?”

After taking a good look at the boy, she realized the boy she was talking to was not Matt. However, she was surprised to see how similar they both looked. “I’m sorry. I thought you were my son,” she said hesitantly before walking back to the table.

Just then, an older woman came out of the restroom and smiled at the boy. They started walking towards the exit, and she noticed the boy had a limp.

Without a second thought, she decided to talk to the older woman. “Hi, excuse me,” she said, walking towards them.

“Yes?” the older woman asked.

“I’m sorry. I’m Ella. It’s just that my son, he looks so much like yours, it’s amazing. They’re even in the same jacket, isn’t that such a cool coincidence?” Ella said, somehow hoping it was indeed just a coincidence.

“That’s strange. Well, this is Elijah. I’m Erica. Where’s your son?” the old woman asked, looking around the restaurant. Ella spotted Matt and called him over.

“Mom, I’m in the middle of a game,” Matt cried.

“It won’t be long, honey. This nice lady here is with her son….” Ella said, dozing off when she saw the expression on the woman’s face. She looked at Ella with hurt in her eyes.

“Tell you what, why don’t you take Elijah to play with you over there? Introduce him to your friends,” Ella suggested as she pushed the kids towards the party.

At that moment, Ella and Erica sat at one of the booths. “What’s going on?” Ella asked.

“Well, I’m guessing you are Patrick’s wife, right?” the woman asked.

“How do you know my husband?”

“I’m Erica, I’m the mother of his first wife Kelly,” she revealed. Ella gasped, surprised.

“Kelly gave birth to twins, but Elijah was born with one leg shorter than the other…” Erica explained.

“I don’t understand… if they had twins, why did Patrick just bring home Matt?” Ella asked.

“Patrick wanted nothing to do with Elijah. At first, I thought it might have been the grief he was experiencing until I realized it was because of his legs. He didn’t want a child with special needs,” Erica said.

“That’s horrible! I can’t believe he would do this… I’m sorry to hear all of this just now,” Ella said, tears forming in her eyes.

“Patrick did not sign Elijah’s birth certificate, so my husband and I took him in and we’ve been raising him as our own. It’s fine. He is a blessing,” Erica smiled.

“I am happy to see my grandson Matt. Tell me. Is Patrick a good dad? Is he taking care of you two?” she couldn’t help but add.

“To tell you the truth, it’s practically just Matt and me at home. Patrick barely says a word to him, and it hurts me. I adopted him, but I am still waiting for the paperwork,” Ella admitted.

“Well, in case you and my grandson ever need a place to stay, my husband and I live in a big house, and it’s just the three of us there. You can stay as long as you like. I want the brothers to get to know one another,” Erica said, squeezing Ella’s hand.

Ella smiled, and the two women talked for a couple more minutes until Elijah and Erica left. They exchanged phone numbers, and that was that.

In the next couple of months, while waiting for the adoption paperwork to be completed, Ella and Erica kept in contact. They planned their move in advance, and when the paperwork finally came, she took Matt with her and stayed at a hotel.

She left Patrick a note, asking for a divorce. She decided she’d spend a couple of nights at a hotel in case Patrick decided to go to Erica’s house.

Ella was gutted when Patrick didn’t even bother looking for them. He simply left her a message that the divorce papers were signed and already at the lawyer’s office.

So, Ella and Erica raised the two boys together, alongside Erica’s husband Ashton. They explained the situation, and the twins were glad to know they were brothers.

Erica and Ashton decided to ask Ella and Matt to move in permanently, so the brothers would not have to be apart ever again. Although Ella was hesitant, she agreed.

In the end, Ella stayed in the home with the twins until she met a man who loved the twins like his own sons. They moved in together, and Ella adopted Elijah as well. They never heard from Patrick ever again.
