Nigel Farage skewers Albania’s Brexit-hating PM and demands ‘take all your criminals back’ after dig at Britain

Nigel Farage has launched a scathing attack on Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama, demanding he “take all your criminals back” after the socialist leader criticised post-Brexit Britain.

Nigel responded to Rama’s comments on GB News by highlighting that “one in 50 Albanians in Britain are in prison” and calling for their immediate repatriation.

“The Albanian Prime Minister slags us off for Brexit and says Britain is ‘in a dark place, looking for places to dump migrants’,” Nigel said.

He added that Rama claimed “much of what we say post-Brexit has become ‘totally unacceptable, totally ridiculous, totally shameful’.”

Nigel dismissed the Albanian leader as “this giant of a man” who leads Albania as its socialist premier whilst criticising Britain’s immigration policies.

Rama’s criticism of Britain emerged during an interview with The Guardian, where he warned that Sir Keir Starmer’s plan to send failed asylum seekers abroad demonstrates that post-Brexit Britain is in “a very dark place”.

“How he can criticise us when he spent months negotiating with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni,” Nigel said, referring to discussions about Albania taking Mediterranean migrants from Italy.

“He’d agreed to take large numbers of their cross-Mediterranean migrants,” Nigel continued, though he acknowledged that “in the end, he didn’t take that many, but he had those negotiations.”

The Reform leader concluded his attack with a direct challenge to the Albanian Prime Minister: “I tell you what, Mr Rama, did you know one in 50 Albanians in Britain are in prison? So show some goodwill and take them all back tomorrow, because this is hypocrisy.”

Rama’s comments came approximately one month after Sir Keir Starmer visited Albania’s capital, Tirana, to discuss establishing “return hubs” for failed asylum seekers as part of efforts to tackle small boat crossings in the English Channel.

During that visit, Rama rejected the possibility of Albania hosting one of Britain’s proposed hubs, maintaining his consistent stance on the issue.

The Albanian leader insisted his criticism was not aimed specifically at Starmer, whom he described as “a very decent and delightful person”.

Rama revealed he had previously rejected similar proposals under both Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson’s administrations.

“The fact that today it’s not just imaginable, it’s happening, is not because of Keir Starmer or Rishi Sunak doing something outrageous; it’s because of the country being in a very dark place,” Rama explained.
